Hi all, do any of you use these & if so, do they work?

I'm wondering if it would be cheaper to buy a length of hanging basket liner stuff and cut them out, rather than paying £2.50 ish for a pack of 30  :o

Would it work?  Thanks in advance x

I've saved all our old squash and fizz bottles and am using those cut with old pinking shears if thats any use?

I tried them once but broke a couple of stems putting them on so didn't bother again... they're pretty stiff. I'm sure it's user error - maybe the plants were too young. Hanging basket liner stuff is probably more flexible...

At Barnsdale  they were using cardboard. Suzie the veg gardener told us she'd had to replant her purple sprouts and had put cardboard collars, plus plastic bottle sections, smeared with vaseline to deter slugs round them, plus organic slug pellets!
