I have a monkey puzzler tree that i have had for about 6 years.
It is in a big pot but i have noticed that recently its not as dark green as it was.
I do intend to re-pot it soon.
What soil should i use?
What should i feed it?
I think i recall re-potting it a few years ago with a loam based soil, but may be wrong.
I will take a photo and post it tomorrow.

Oh I laugh whenevr I see a monkey puzzle tree. Years and years ago I bought one for my Mum as she had always craved one.

The  shop I bought it from ordered it for me  and said it would be there the following week.

I asked them to order me the biggest one they could find. It was dreadfully expensive and took all I had

They looked at me very oddly when I said they would have to  deliver it ,but said nothing.

I was so thrilled with finding this for my Mum

The following week this lorry drew up, I was like a kid on Christmas as I got my Mum to the gate.

Out of the lorry came this man with a small pot with the teeniest tiny thing, it was about 1 foot high including the pot, with only about three branches..

We have laughed about that so many times.

She planted it in the garden by the way.

Sorry I had to share that one.

Hi Flower Power, you need to repot it into John Innes no3 compost  :)

Georgie

Hi Flower Power.  My view is that a tree like an Araucaria is never going to be happy in a pot.  But if you have no choice then I agree with Simon about using JI no3.

You have to be silent as you pass a monkey puzzle! How do you manage with one in the garden?!  ;D ;D ;D
Don't throw paper away. There is no away.

Never heard that one before.

Georgie

Me neither.  Do tell!   ;D

Three years bad luck if you talk going past one is what I was told as a child. Maybe it's a northern thing?

There is one in a graveyard near my house and kids told me that the devil can't hide in it because there are too many gaps in the branches  ::)

There's also a yew tree in the graveyard that if you talk when you go past it, you have to kiss a girl/boy. I reckon that one is a product of a crafty teacher getting the kids to hush when walking from school to church.

Our neighbour has a monkey puzzle tree in their front garden. Every Christmas, they decorate it as if it's a huge christmas tree, including, until last year, prettily wrapped "presents". Sadly, too many people thoughts the wrapped empty boxes were real presents and kept removing them!  :(

Sorry I can't help with your tree query though  ???
