drove down to devon friday night, enjoying 6 hours on the M5 carpark on the way  :o , finally arrived at campsite at 10.30 and spent 2 hours pitching brand new tent that we have never pitched before in the dark and rain!  :D.

awoke saturday morning to discover that we were actually at the best campsite in the world with a secluded plot surrounded by wild areas between us and next tents and brand new shower block!

spent a couple of hours on the beach while hubby surfed and then we went to RHS Rosemoor as my treat! fantastic garden, really lovely and the veg plot and potager garden were lovely.

sunday followed a similar pattern except we went to Tapeley Park which has gorgeous gardens and a lovely walled kitchen garden and a new organic permaculture garden. the permaculture plot was amazing and really helped me to understand all the stuff i'd read. took loads of photos, my husband despairs of me  ;D

journey home today (via somerset cider farm) was painless and then we went and checked the plot. seems i missed out on a good gardening weekend but had a great time away!

hope you all enjoyed your weekend!

Legless, Taplely Park, you were a stones throw from my family!  Where abouts were you?  My aunts live in a village up the road from Tapley called Westleigh, and their house is owned by Tapely.  My Nan and gramps live just down the way in Fremington, on the outskirts of Barnstaple.

Isn't Rosemoor wonderful!  There are lots of lovely gardens down there to see, but often you have to be in the know to find them!  I haven't been into Taplely for years, you have now convinced me to pay them a visit!  ;D  Glad you had a good weekend.

ooo, just a thought, we go down the A303 and only touch the M5 briefly at the end of the journey.  Can be slow going if there is lots of holiday traffic, but generally, this has proved the quickest most enjoyable route, and passing stonehenge is always a 'nearly there' marker for me!  ;D

we were staying at mortehoe. i thought about you being from devon while we were down there, its so lovely.

i think the A303 was solid as well and the A361 was closed for quite a bit of the day as well! just a bad day to travel!

will sort out the pictures this evening and stick some interesting ones up!

Glad you had a nice weekend Legless.  What a long drive from Newcastle :o  How long did it take you in all?  Would love to go to Devon .......one day ;)
Take time to stop and smell the flowers.

legless

it took 10 hours but it normally takes about 6 - not too bad normally!

Sounds like a wonderful weekend Legless. Could I ask you the name of the campsite? You make it sound so nice, and I fancy a weekend in Devon this summer.  :D
Thanks

Thanks legless, found the site and have it in favourites if I do decide on a devon holiday.
Went camping in Cornwall last year and it was just lovely!
