manicscousers

are they as good as the advert says
victoriana nursery has 5 plants for 6.50, they can't sell seed due to eu regulations..10 to 15 heads from one plant, plus white spears too, with the price of fruit and veggies due to shoot up again this winter, I'm trying to boost production up a bit  ;D

Wouldn't it be nice if they said that since the EU wouldn't let them sell seeds, they'd give them away for free, like some seed companies did when the EU first got involved in all this? I think you should shell out the £6.50, and then when we're all struggling with the Great Cauliflower Crunch of 2008, post us some pics of your wondrous curds  ;D

never had much luck with them from seed so may as well, will order them when the early peas come out, just hope they taste good, "custard yellow cauliflowers", mmmm :-\

There is always 9-Star Perennial Broccoli - this produces a medium sized white head in the spring, followed by lots of (progressively smaller) side spears/shoots.

Seeds for this are widely available and the plants are reckoned to last 3/4 years. I have grown these last year (sown May/June) and harvested loads from about 10 plants - have cut off all those I could not eat and they are resting now for next year.

£1.99 is better than £6.50!

A packet of 'all year round' for 39p has enough seeds in it to last me years.

Is not the c&c one the same as the 9 Star?

manicscousers

no idea, tim, why are these so d**n expensive then ?

Robert_Brenchley

I hope they're not 9 star; there's no rule against selling seed of that! I wonder what the rule actually says, come to that.
