I presume you are going to grow it as a fan or espalier on that wall am I correct?

Looks like a good spot!!

Ooooh I hope it grows well for you, Tim. BW counted all the little 'bumps' on mine and as I'm the only fig eater here I'm going to be in figgy heaven ;D. Roll on.
Smile, it confuses people.

Nice pic Tim. My Brown turkey got a severe cutting back a couple of years back as it was taking over the greenhouse-a nice crop of babies showing now

Tee Gee - indeed. South facing. And the wires already there from a vine.

No babies yet on mine, Stephan - just bursting buds.

It sure looks better than mine Tim XX Jeannine

My Brown Turkey against a 6' S facing wall is just beginning to put out leaf... I can hardly wait for August...

The usual advice given for figs is to restrict the roots. A good example of this is that in the Mediterranean area they grow on cliff faces and on railway embankments as a weed. In fact they seem to occupy the same ecological spot as buddleia do here where they grow out of walls.
I have grown several figs, and every time they look as if they may fruit, my wife decides that it is time to move again!
I planted one in the garden of my new house two years ago and it seems to be ok. I hope that does not mean she will want to uproot again!!!!

I planted mine in 1/2 a bottomless plastic dustbin, it was a mighty hole we dug, but it did fruit the second year.
