Sweet cicely should be forming young seeds about now-if you have never eaten them then you are missing something-lovely fresh aniseed flavour.

Stephan.

Hmmm, tried to grow this twice this year from seed I was given, nufink!  Will have to buy some seed.  Yet another one to add to the list!  We will never be rich, but boy will we have lots of veggies to eat!  ;D

Ours is only just coming into flower.
Gardening is the great leveller.

I've always failed to raise it from seed - I think it a frosting before the seeds will germinate.

I gets lots of self sown though

I have read that Sweet Cicely seed has very short viability so seed you buy may already be a bit old - I only got one plant from the packet I sowed but it's now in its second year and a handsome size.    I think the thing to do is sow seed outdoors as soon as it's ripe and I think it does need a period of cold to germinate (I put mine in the fridge for two weeks).   My plant is well into flowering and setting seed so, if you like, email me and I will send you some when it's ripe.
