With all the chat we have had on chitting lately I thought you might like to see how mine are progressing.

I set them up three weeks ago and don't expect to plant out for at least another six weeks yet!

My first earlies are about 2 1/2 inches long - dont even speak to me about the rest!

Same here, actually worried whether they are too long! :o
Smile at your enemies.

It makes them wonder what you are up to.

Mrs.N only set them out on Tuesday but they're doing ok.

We've only got Maris Pipers as the garden centre had sold out of anything but maincrops :(  I'll have to see what the allotment store has got in at the weekend.
My allotment blog Plot326.  In it's infancy at the mo but in time it'll grow.

Hi TeeGee, I'm growing Foremost earlies for the first time this year.
So you won't plant them until the middle of April? Does that apply to the maincrops as well or do you plant them later still?
I think you are probably a similar climate to where I am, so I'd be interested to know.

Mrs Ava

They are very well behaved Tee.  Some of mine are like that - kestrel springs to mind, but others have sent up huge long shoots already!

I way that up at the time, and as I think I have said before; I don't work religiously to a calendar! I have been known to sow them both (earlies/maincrop) at the same time, failing that, usually plant maincrop up to a couple of weeks later.

Its just a case of necessity or needs must, i.e. if  I need the space the potatoes are chitting in!

So right, TG! I get mine in December. They sit in the Barn until they show life. They then come into a cool window & stay there until late March- late April. When the soil/plot & I'm good & ready!!

This is the current situation.  PFA (elsewhere) are not moving yet. As you would expect.

Pictures not up to TG's standard!

Sarpo Mira were rationed this year!
