Just seen a fox!

Hi, I had to tell somebody, I have just emptied my rubbish into the wheelie bin on our drive and there running up our street at full speed was a fox.  I know you might not think that is unusual, but I have never ever, seen a fox up here in Whitley Bay.  And NO, I haven't been at the gin,  :D  and it was definitely a fox. Long thin pointed face, big bushy tail and all gingery. The poor thing looked petrified. Should I notify anybody do you think, or is my reaction over the top? Seen them plenty of time down in London when I stayed with my sister -  dozens  of them cavorting around her garden, but it is such a novelty to see one in in our vicinity.  :o busy_lizzie

Don't know if you should notify anybody but can understand your excitement.
I have never seen one in this area but when I visit family in Chiclehurst, Kent they always visit her garden. They are sauch a lovely creature.

It is exciting to see wildlife we see half grown ones in the winter months up and down our road its in a village so is the norm now.
If you know anyone with hens tell them or thoes that put the cats out at night.
It always happens when you dont have your camera handy.

They are all over the place at our lottie, really bold and look in very good condition. They seem to like anything at a height, leaving me little presents on top of the tarpaulin covering my manure heap! I reckon they have a right game after we pack up!

I caught one drinking from my plot's well the other day, it just looked me up and down and wandered off...

it is exciting to see foxes ( i think so anyway) we get a lot of them here on the edges of Bournemouth conurbation and a couple of years ago we had a mother and three cubs shacked up behind our old garage. she would bring them out mornings and evenings and at was great to watch them mucking about on the grass.  sometines they would lie out on the flat roof of the end shed and nibble each others fleas. occasionally a male would turn up hang around further up in the back garden.  there is quite a lot of cover in our garden and it seemed to be part of a route for a few years.  there has been some building development at the back of ours now so we don't see them so much anymore which is a shame.  a year or two after the cubs were born my husband found the mother deceased outside the back door which was a bit sad. i have seen the young ones a few times since then.

Sadly the foxes in suburban Brum have once more got mange :(

My father in B,ham used to get the odd fox in his garden before he fenced everything off.We have had one as far as l know in our garden and we live near Milton Keynes.

Our allotment site has a whole family of foxes and they're cheeky tinkers!

They'll sit right in the middle of your plot looking at you and then just 'saunter off' when they're good and ready  ;D

They have endearing habits: Nicking gloves, mobile phones and snap-bags.

Once, they took the Treasurer's snap-bag which also had the petty-cash tin and the allotment society cheque book in it. Never found!

And they've eaten Colin the rabbit, Tyrone & Fizz the ducks and Betty the hen. I don't begrudge them a meal though - they're just doing what's natural.

We get loads of foxes on the lottie , down the road and in the garden. My mother had one in her garden, she banged on the window and it came even nearer!

Frozen chickens from Aldi and several electrical items (cd players/dvds etc) from Argos Manics!  ;D

Lovely to watch but if you have pets the foxes can pass on Mange and all sorts of other deceases. They also wreak havock with my fleece.

I keep digging up eggs that they have buried. Our plot has 5 high rise blocks of flats opposite so I bet they get the stuff out of the trash bins. They must carry the eggs very carefully cos they are never broken. That is until my fork goes through them.

Shirl, it may not be foxes.....squirrels are great at nicking eggs and burying them.

Well last time I saw a fox it was boldly trotting around Tescos car park, so maybe they still have some of those cheques left?  :D  :D

More likely it was shoplifting. I don't think foxes are that honest.
