We have a half plot in Sutton Coldfield which costs us £8.50 and 4 miles away we have a full plot and its £10. Same council as well. I couldn't afford to have one if I had to pay £150. Wouldn't have any money left to spend at Wilkies.lol
When I get old I don't want people thinking
"What a sweet little old lady"........
                             I want em saying
"Oh Crap! Whats she up to now ?"

mine is just under £40.00, half of which is for water.  We get free woodchip & leaf drops and have a shop.

Si

Same with meths... £5/litre in B and Q.

I pay £20 for 150 square metres on one site, and £8 for a similar plot on another. If I want over 150m2 I have to pay £40, but like everyone else I think it's worth it.

Si, what do you do with your meths? We had a 3 hur power cut today and I asked OH if meths would work in our storm lantern as we had no paraffin, and he nearly had a heart attack. Far too dangerous.

We use meths to light our 'Tilley' heater, which we used to warm up our allotment field shed if we have a meeting and its very cold (like Wednesday this week, when it was sooo cold but the heater soon warmed it up).  The Tilley burns paraffin but you have to use meths to light it and then it burns paraffin under pressure.

Thanks. I half remember having a simple small meths cooker that you could fry a couple of sausages on (I think) when camping.

Was this chap wearing a three cornered hat and sporting a pair of pistols in his belt? Our allotment shop charges £9-50p for TWENTY Litres, it must be the bargain of the year.

nah he was about 4' 6" with NHS specs and could fit in my pocket and was reading from his script.  I don't blame him so much as the suppliers.  I'd cleared out his stock over the past month or so and no doubt the new stock was brought in at the inflated prices.

but it proves that it pays to shop around.  unfortunately not when you're on foot.
