Hi there , im a bit worried about my winter onions , as there the first thing i've ever planted don't really know what they should look like.

I took these photos today , only on my old phone so quality isen't great..

Do these look like they are in trouble ? and what should i do ?

Also i planted 3 purple sprouting brocoli plants in november and while are going strong , one is also not looking so good heres a pic of it , I was just wandering what that build up was on the leaf..

Thanks for any advice

Your onions look fine to me. The vital thing is to get them established well before the onset of cold weather (What cold weather?). They won't do much, but they'll be in a very good position to get going in spring, well ahead of spring-planted onions. I can't see any detail in the PSB shot, but could that be aphids?

I agree with Robert on the onions, they tend to look a bit sorry for themselves at this time of year, so it is difficult to imagine them swelling into delicious onions a bit later on ... they look fine to me.

Can't help on the brassicas, good luck anyway

The impossible is just a journey away ...

yep, grey, horrible aphids, soft soap might help ?  :)

November seems a little late for planting PSB, you might have a long wait for harvest

The onions look a bit drawn, did you start them in pots?

Your onions look quite like the ones I planted late, and I think they look fine! ;D

Nothing wrong with the onions Baggie, mine are a little bigger but size isn't everything ;D, nothing will be thriving in this weather, watch em go when the weather warms up, I throw rooster pellets on mine others will probably give you some good tips for feed, I water well until  they are established then they tend to look after themselves, let the roots look for the water. :P     ;D ;D
MAY THE CORN BE WITH YOU.

Aphids are Green or Blackfly but in this case probably grey (Mealy) Aphid. Nothing that a quick smear between finger and thumb won't improve! The onions look fine to me...

Aphids are greenfly, blackfly, and many similar things. In this case greyfly. They live off plant sap and poo sugar syrup which attracts ants. Fortunately they rarely do the plant much harm, unless they're spreading viruses. They're easily killed if you can get a clear shot at them. Just a water spray often does it, or failing that water with a little soap or detergent in it.

my onions look just as sorry for themselves so i'm glad yours are too  ;D

my bird feeders keep throwing themselves all over the onion bed too so lord knows what's going to be coming up next to the onions when we get some warmth !

Onions look fine to me...........remove the offending leaf but don't compost it.

It might be nothing much, but better to be safe than sorry!
