Have now cooked a good few recipes from'New Recipes for your Slow Cooker' by Annette Yates. Very impressed. There is a table for converting conventional cooking times to slo cooker times. I cooked the Christmas gammon in my Slo Cooker....10/10.  Also made Lemon curd, Leek & onion soup, (over night), loads of stews etc. Also had a go at chocolate cake which turned out like a sponge pudding but was good nonetheless. All from this book.  Can't recommend it highly enough.

Tried my slow cooker today (christmas pressie) and its rubbish!

I cooked Gordon ramsays winter casserole last weekend and it was out of this world. Did the same recipe today in the slow cooker and it tasted crap. the herbs just didnt infuse into the stew, it was bland, tasteless and watery. Really put me off using it again...

Can someone convert me?
