I want to plant 4 season potatoes in 2 beds.

bed number 1 first early and early main crop will replace it. On the second bed second early and late main crop will replace it.

My question is will it effect the quanitity and quality of the harvest? or will the addition of manure and fertiliser aid it ???

Yes... you would have to put a lot in as Pots are gross feeders. I tend to follow them with a green manure but wouldn't try to crops immediately after each other even on my nutrient holding clay. A good layer 3-4 " of well rotted manure turned in would certainly help...

Your maincrops are going to be very late and probably very small

I do not think you will be able to get  2 crops of potatoes in the one summer. If you sow your first earlies by late March it will still be around July 1st before you harvest them. This is  very late for sowing more.

Actually - I've had good crops off Cara planted 25/6 & Franceline, Carlingford & Maris Peer on 12/7.

Not sure about the wisdom of following on.
But food - yes!

Was that this year Tim?
I could see sense in trying to catch a second crop of firsts which form tubers sooner/faster but don't think it would work with Mains. Places like Egypt take up to three crops off the same land, even their cooler season is still hot by our standards!

Sorry, Dad - hadn't latched on to the maincrop bit. Agree!
