Quite agree Sam, I certainly don't look down my nose at X factor but when I watched the first few programmes last year I got bored.

Oh definitely, Lorna.  The auditions go on and on and on, becoming a real bore in the end.  I start to really enjoy it from the bootcamp stage.

As for Strictly Come Dancing, I wonder how many ballroom classes get a boost this time of the year due to that show? LOL.  I too go a bit green with envy when I watch them, I'd love to be able to dance like that!

I was channel hopping at about 9.25pm between X Factor and Strictly.

Am I (and my mate on the east coast) the only two who thinks Leona shrieks ?

Love strictly come dancing, if all the girls look like that that do it I think I will have to sort myself some lessons out .  As for Leona it will be intresting to see where she is this time next year.

Little Ray was like a dolly!  And yes, quite fun singing swing, but rubbish on 'regular' tracks.  LOVED the MacDonald Bros.  Oh I would like both boys in my stocking please santa!  ;)  Leona is a mix of whitney and maria carey - not my personal cup of decaf, but I could see why everyone loved her so.

We watched it and thought Ray was so smarmy and very limited in his range.  Couldn't believe he even had the chance to win and much preferred Ben who was great!  Leona has a brilliant voice and I am so glad justice was done, and I hope that she has a bright career in front of her. busy_lizzie

I'm with you there KP - there were points in most songs where my ears were offended by the high notes!  And the chin-wobble-warbling bugged me too.  Don't get me wrong, she has a fantastic voice (for the most part!) and was far more talented (using this lightly - IMO talent is in the song writing, good singing in just genetics and a great oesophagus!) than the others.  But certainly not my bag.  I much preferred Ben (until he spoke - so didn't match his singing voice!) and even quite liked Ray.  But I suppose in the end the right person won in the sense that it is supposed to be a talent show.

And what did everyone think of them bringing on all the no-hoper's from the early auditions?  I was laughing away and then I suddenly thought, "gosh, these people might not realise that everyone is laughing at them..."  Can't decide if it was mean or not.  LOVED Edna though!  She rocked!
;D
(Phew, rant over! :o)

Sally no- hoper's was my favourite bit of the show I was laughing all the way because they don't realise they are crapp but at least they got up there and give it there all. Lizzie agree Ray has a limited range but don't think he was smarmy just built up his confidence over the weeks and was very confident by the final. EJ I've booked the MacDonald Bros for you at Christmas but they are too big for your stocking so I've ordered you a couple of jockstraps.  :) :) ;) ;) :D :D ;D ;D ;D ;D :-* :-*

Yes, also my favourite bit (my fear for thier mental wellbeing disappears when they are hopelessly out of tune!), but it is worrying to think that someone has told those people that they can sing!  Either they don't have very nice friends, or their friends are tone deaf too!

And if anyone was smarmy, it wasn't Ray it was the older MacDonald brother - all those cheesy "side glance and wink" into the camera!  Noooooo!

I loved the no-hopers segment.  and when wee sean came on and sang, AND got through it without bursting into tears, that set me off !! lol.

Whether they can or can't sing, they've got a lot more b@lls than i have by standing up there in front several million people and do what they love to do - sing ! (or not) lol.

I love the Witney songs, and that little stunt would have grabbed her the TT vote.

but i feared for my antique crystal display glasses (OK i haven't got any but you get the gist).

I thought Ray had a tad more personality than Leona who, and i quote my Embra mate, had the "personality of a stone".

If that's the future of British pop, then gawd help us all.
