I'd really like you advice.

I am looking to replace our ancient battered food processor and want something not too expensive (probably max of £60), that does the job and is likely to last a while.

At the moment I am considering the Breville FP13, the Kenwood FP510 or the Moulinex AAT5S4 Ovatio 2 Duo Press or the http://www.amazon.co.uk/Philips-HR7735-Click-Food-processor/dp/B0007XHGFW/sr=1-1/qid=1163503548/ref=sr_1_1/026-3089203-8596403?ie=UTF8&s=kitchen.

If anyone has any experience of these products I would really appreciate your opinion, or recommend one that you think I should consider.

Thanks folks!

my mother in law has just given me her 20 year old kenwood as I can't mix stuff any more, so that seems to be a good make ?

Which? did a review in April. The only one of the ones you are looking at that was reviewed was the Phillips, which came out as one of the best buys. I've copied the phillips review and the summaries of the other four best buys below.

Food processors review
Philips Cucina Click and Go HR7735

BEST BUY

"The HR7735 is a smaller Philips processor that's very easy to set up and dismantle and both the processor and jug are great at a wide range of tasks.

It makes fast work of chopping, grating and slicing tasks and the dough blade mixes cakes and kneads dough effectively. The jug blender makes excellent mayonnaise and purées to an even and fine consistency as well as making great milkshakes and smoothies. It has an emulsifying disk instead of a balloon beater which is quite quick but produces less voluminous whisked eggs and whipped cream than a whisk.

Philip's 'click and go' processors stand out from all the others because of their exceptionally convenient system which allows you to fix the bowl and lid in any position and remove the lid at the click of a button.It's a fairly simple model with only two speeds and a pulse setting. The switch is simple to use and as there are fewer attachments it is easier to store. The slicing and grating functions are not separate discs, but are supplied as metal sections that fit into a larger plastic disc.

Most parts are dish-washer safe, so it's easy to clean. However, it's quite noisy and the measurements on the mixing bowl are 30ml to 40 ml out, although those on the jug are slightly more accurate. It's well-built and durable.

Pros: Excellent at chopping, mixing and slicing, good at grating kneading, whipping and whisking, excellent jug blender, easy to operate, very easy to assemble and dismantle, easy to clean, easy to store, well-built and durable.

Cons: Emulsifying disc not as effective as a traditional whisk, quite noisy."

Magimix Compact 3100

    * Price: £147
    * Score: 82 %

This medium-sized processor from Magamix is really quiet and easy to use and does an excellent job of most processing tasks.

It has a dough blade attachment which does a good job of kneading. It chops quickly, evenly and finely and is excellent at grating and slicing. Only the paddle accessory which is used for whipping and whisking was slightly disappointing; it works well, but takes longer and does not beat in as much air traditional whisk attachments.

Magimix Le Mini Plus

    * Price: £100
    * Score: 80 %

This smaller blender from Magimix is slower at some tasks than other models, but produces excellent results and is very quiet and easy to use.

It makes good cake mix and bread dough, and chops, slices and grates evenly. Only the paddle accessory which is used for whipping and whisking was slightly disappointing; it works well, but takes longer and does not beat in as much air traditional whisk attachments. The touch pad controls offer two simple options: 'on' or 'pulse' and they're easy to activate and wipe clean.

Moulinex Masterchef Delicio DFB249

    * Price: £40
    * Score: 80 %

The excellent-value Moulinex is a light, effective and compact processor that is one of the easiest to store.

It's excellent at a range of tasks including chopping and mixing, and it grates and slices a range of foods in just a few seconds. However, the emulsifier disk is not as good at whipping air into egg or cream as a whisk. The slicing and grating functions are not separate discs, but are supplied as metal sections that fit into a larger plastic disc.

Philips Cucina Click and Go HR7745

This large Best Buy processor from Philips is very easy to set up and dismantle, comes with lots of attachments and both the processor and jug are great a wide range of tasks.

The balloon beater does a good job of whipping air into egg and cream and the dough blade mixes cakes and kneads dough effectively. It's excellent at mixing, slicing and chopping and makes fast work of grating and slicing carrots. The jug blender makes excellent mayonnaise and it also purées to an even and fine consistency as well as making great milkshakes and smoothies.

Hi. Do Food processors do juicing too? i would like to get one so that I can rid myself of the other spacewasters.

muddy boots

Just got an Kenwood FP 691.  Does absolutely everything.  Think they're about £79 - OH bought it so not quite sure.   The great thing about Kenwood is that they are very good on spares/help, etc., as they have been about for yonks.  Was absolutely gob smaked by all the bits that came with it - made my old Moulinex (very good workhorse) look quite bare  ::)  Also, has a very stable base, with suckers underneath, about twice the diameter of a liquidiser and takes up less space on the work surface than the Mouli.

cacran

Hi, so it actually juices things like a juicer? So, for example..... you could put a quartered apple including pips and skin and it would separate it all?? That's what my juicer does and would like to get the equivelant.

muddy boots

Not sure about that bit, Cacran, haven't tried the juicer yet!  Will have a look at the book and come back to you!
