My first posting but I've been reading for some time - a great help in starting my first allotment (should have started when Dad was alive - he'd have told me!)
I've grown some sprouts but some have got very spindly and wavy stalks near the root, do I earth them up, stake them or what? Not sure why I grew them 'cos i don't like them anyway but I suppose it'll keep the better half happy!

Cheers and thanks

That's a good start!!

You don't say if they are 'fruiting' yet, or how well? Or if they are lying on the ground? Whatever, Staking can only be useful.

No the're not fruiting, they may have been planted a bit late. they re about 18 ins - 2ft tall and probably looking immature at the moment.

Here's just one view - albeit US - which doesn't answer directly, but may be a useful 'fill-in'?

When did you plant?

teejayef

Sorry for the delay, it's Friday and so the obligatory 2 pints at the local were called for.

They were planted in early September, small plants bought from the market.

What's life without a pint?

Don't know, but that was a bit late??  The norm is June -July. But miracles do happen??

Do report back?
