Have you changed your security settings recently?

# Internet Explorer 5.0

   1. From your browser menu, select 'Tools'.
   2. Then select 'Internet Options'. This will bring up the 'Internet Options' Dialogue Box.
   3. On the top of the dialogue box, select 'Security', then 'Custom Level'. This will bring up the 'Security Settings' box.
   4. Scroll down using the scroll bar on the right hand side of the box, until you come to the section carrying the title 'allow cookies to be stored on your computer'.
   5. Of the options available, select 'Enable', and then select the 'OK' button on the bottom of the menu box.

# Internet Explorer 6.0

   1. From your browser menu, select 'Tools', and then 'Internet Options'. This will bring up the 'Internet Options' Dialogue Box.
   2. On the top of the dialogue box, select 'Privacy'. This will bring up the 'Privacy Settings' box.
   3. On the Privacy tab, move the slider up for a higher level of privacy or down for a lower level of privacy.
   4. Move the slider to the top to block cookies from all web sites.

Hi Tel
Cookies are administered by the client pc not the server. So the problem is definately on your PC.
Why you cant do anything is the application (A4a) is trying to write a session cookie to your PC when you log in but your PC is denying it.
Everypage that requires authentication eg to write a post etc, check your PM's etc validates you as a logged in user via this session cookie.
Doing what DJ suggests should work. If not try putting your IE settings back to default

thanks for your help but none of those worked so one thinks i might have a dud PC might have to try the rescue disk :-\

glow777

rescue disk is a bit severe as this is just  a small software issue.
Other things to do are to check the write permissions on your cookie folders and try deleting all current cookies and temp internet files in case there is something corrupt in the folders.

failing that you could just try going to a restore point prior to the problem starting

BTW how are you posting this message?

TEL

Hi glow
will try the restore. I'm posting this on my 2nd PC that my boys use for games. "to stop them mucking up the other one" :-[
