This might be a bit late in the year but I have been looking for bulbils from the "Tree Onion" also called Walking Onion or Egyptian Onion, but I can't find it anywhere in the UK. Does anyone know where you can get a hold of these or does anyone know of any other topsetting varieties that are easier to get a hold of?? ???

hiya! I sent off loads of bulbils to loads of peeps here earlier in the year. They should all be growing healthily and strongly for everyone now? I know mine are 8)  What I can do for you, if you want, is to dig up a couple of plants & post to you tomorrow. 2 plants will give you loads of bulbils next year. Interested? PM me your addy if you are.

Cheers, Lishka

Wish I'd found A4A before I bought them from Beans  & Herbs >:(.

Got 4 growing at the moment but no signs of walking yet.

they don't go on their hols yet, Owl ::)

they'll form their bulbils at the top of a stem early summer....stem then bends down to the ground - and they're off 8)

So we should dab a different colour on each one and bet on a very slow race :)

I've never heard of this. I love this place - learn something new every time.

I bought some of these a month or so ago, as bulbils....stupid question, should I plant them now or wait until spring?

A couple of them had already sprouted, so I put them in modules in my unheated geenhouse, the others I've kept as they are. What should I do with them?
If it's not pouring with rain, I'm either in the garden or at the lottie! Probably still there in the rain as well TBH....🥴

Deb, in nature they would have sown themselves, so I'd put the others in pots....don't think modules would have the depth needed ??? Otherwise I'd put them straight into the soil - it's still warm enough, and mulch.

PS.....CS and SS......onion-smelling jiffy bags now c/o the P.O. ;D

I put mine in a few weeks ago, mulched them, and they're now several inches high.

Thanks for that, into the plot they go!
