Hope somebody will be able to help, hubby wants to try and grow ginger (lord knows why - he doesn't cook with it!!)  Anyway, is it possible in this country (we are in Essex - if that makes a difference) and 2nd part of the question would planting a root from the supermarket work?

Ideas and hints gratefully received.

Thanks

Helen

Yep, that's the way to do it. Try an Asian grocery because their ginger tends to be fresher and even sprouting.

we managed to grow some but in the poly, it can be grown as a houseplant, in a pot, managed to get a piece with a bumpy 'root' on the bottom, it grew quite happily from that :)

Arr, I've tried, but whenever I get a piece sprouting and with roots, it decides to rot.

Awkward stuff. :/

But what do you grow it in?

When a teen I tried growing it in sand and it did quite well but for the drying out problem that finally killed it.
