Used it yesterday & thought 'that's got an edge like a saw - must sharpen'. Didn't, & today it splipped.

Tim Good advice, hope injury is not too serious.

Quite right, I've done the same before now. Another thing to watch out for is sharpening anything curved like a grass hook. It's horribly easy to cut yourself.

I find it horribly easy to cut myself on anything - the other day I slit my wrist on a clingfilm box.  Okay, exaggeration, but still - a clingfilm box for heavens sake!

Tim - hope your injury is not impeding you too much.
Thank you to all who donated to the Moonlight Half Marathon Walk in aid of St Catherine's Hospice - my mum and I raised just over £300!!!    ............     Thanks!  :-)

I have had two new gardening knives in the last ten years. The first thing I did with BOTH of them was test them for sharpness on my thumb and cut myself :-[.

Once is a mistake, twice is deliberate.

Yeah, it's the serrated edge, gets me sooo many times!  Strangely enough, my knives haven't yet caused me a problem! ??? ::)
