I've got a kilo or two of medium and large tomatoes still on the vine outdoors with not a blush between them and they've been that way for some weeks now.

With due deference to the fried green tomato fanciers, any tips on getting them to ripen would be most welcome?

PS The Santa F1's, also outdoors, are still producing and ripening.

I picked all of mine with the plan to make green tomato chutney, but they are ripening really quickly on the windowsill!!  So I'm making large vats of tomato sauce instead.

Put them in a box between sheets of newspaper under a bed or somewhere. No probs. Guaranteed 8)

Or just leave them lying around!!

For some reason mine went brown in places so I ended up throwing them away.

Many thanks for the advice. :)

If they're going brown in patches that's likely to be blight.

Or just Grey Mould - like we have - I think?

A few of mine started going brown, so last night I made vast vats of green tom chutney (well, mostly green, with a bit of red along the way!) from the rest of them.
Better safe than sorry methinks.

Picked all my toms as soon as the blight hit, and saved most of them by taking them home  and laying them out on trays (all over the house  ;D)
However didnt have enough room for them all, so the Gardeners Delight and a couple of other cordon style toms were cut with long lengths of vine and tied them up and suspended them from nails in the shed. They ripened nicely are still providing me with little tomatoes for salads. Only lost one or two with the blight.

Well I still have plenty of green ones, so I may follow Tim's suggestion, and just leave them lying around ...  :D

To be honest, I will eat them whatever colour they are ...
The impossible is just a journey away ...

That all sounds sensible... that's a great fox pic Curry, sorry I've only just noticed it!
