which strawberries?

The ones I ordered in 2004? from T&M which were on special offer where nice and yummy. Unfortunately, I can't remember which ones they were.

I've got Marshmello the taste is lovely: nice & tart if you pick them slightly under-ripe (yum), mellowing to a richer smoother tang if you let them stay on the plant a bit longer. 

Since having home-grown strawbs, the supermarket offerings have paled into sad disappointing bland blobs.

I had some symphony from a Pick your own a couple of years ago and I still say they are the best strawbs I have ever tasted - and I am a berry fanatic!

We've got a strawberry bed with a dozen each of Florence and Mara des Bois.  The Florence are good but not exceptional, but I would highly recommend the Mara des Bois.  They have a very long season, and the fruit, although quite small, is delicious.

Gariguette - my favourite, Florence - late, and Mara de bois - excellent perpetual -all from Ken M.  Excellent plants.  Have had and given away so many this year, also mace delicious sorbet and jam

We have (though labels seem to have disappeared) Florence, Symphony, Pegasus, Hapil, Honeoye, Ostara, whatever T&M's strawberries that were on special offer in 2004, Eros - I think that is it.
Got more runners than fruit (almost) but that is the Northern-factor eluded to by Bob Flowerdew on GQT a couple of weeks back. I even have a flower on one of the runners (which are still attached to main plant even though I have "potted" them up).
Son wants strawberry seeds - Fresca looks quite nice in the DTBrown catalogue, but £2.05 seems rather a lot for a packet of seeds
Maybe I should collect seed from the strawberries this year and take pot luck!

Symphony is a great variety well worth a try - Late season variety. Pick Mid July. Bright glossy fruits are typical to this variety. Supermarket quality fruits with excellent flavour. .

Autumn Planted Strawberries will crop a light crop next Summer and then will be full cropping from then onwards.

      I have perpetual Elan,(still fruiting),and also Chelsea Pensioner (superb fruit).
       We made jam from the pensioner and found it to be outstanding.

we've got three strawberry beds made this year, all marshmello, runners from our old ones,we cover one bed in march so one goes into flower early then the others are later, looking for strawbs with a longer flowering time
