Cick on pic for closer inspection !

These are my ill gotten gains from this mornings dog walk. All I could manage today, but there is another kind to be had. Cherry sized and dark red colour.
I have no idea what type of plum these (in pic) are.Lovely and sweet.
Can anyone help please.?
Going for the gin now........................ ;D

I've seen some like that too in the hedgerows and would be interested to know what sort they are.

Enjoy them ;D

They are most likely either mirabelles or bullaces, not sure how to tell the difference, but great haul! :)
Kathi :-)

The left hand ones look just like the mirabelles I picked at the start of the week :) Take a bigger basket maggie (and buy more gin!) :o :D

Emagggie

I am embarrased to say a weedy looking plum tree with 10 fruits on it in my garden is a Mirabelle.(looked at label!)  :-[ taste is very different.Garden-very sweet- others not so sweet--------but, as I type, jam boiling, leather drying in heated trolley, and bottles ready to receive gin. Bearded Wonder out fetching a chinese So more than a little pleased with days events.  ;D

Mm-mm can imagine a steamy hive of industry@maggie's manor - just right for a touch of early autumn dullness and drizzle outside :D Chinese sounds like icing on the cake! ;D

Except for the mess SS, why am I such a messy cook? Jam splattered from here to kingdom come.I'm sticking to the floor, it's up the walls, all over my T shirt and the hob? don't mention the hob.

(That's one good thing about a takeaway, everything left gets shoved in the bag and in the bin, never mind the sick feeling from having eaten too much :-X)

LOL@maggie ;)
I'm an obsessively clean cook cos I was trained by a Virgo mum :P
Son has not inherited the Clean Gene so I have to tackle Splat City anyway >:(
Don't mention cleaning hobs, my other name is Hobbit >:( >:(
:o where is your Pinafore? ::)

Robert_Brenchley

You should have seen my kitchen after I'd finished making ketchup the other day! As it thickened, it splattered everywhere; it's lucky the rest of the family are in London.

bennettsleg

Wow! They're beautiful and there're soooo many of them! Good find Emaggie!

Emagggie

Got some more today, look like a sloe but definately a cherry plum. This is a dark blue. I think these will have to be 'ginned' as, SS, pinny or no pinny,I can't bear to think what will happen to the grouting!!
I really need to edicate self on plum varieties, I feel a bit of an ignoramus, but there never seems to be enough pictures in my books. Sometimes it's easier to google, but then I pop in here and the time just goes............... ;D

I'm a virgo and I am certainly not obsessively clean, neither is my virgo husband ::)
Having said that we each obsess about our own things but cleaning is not listed ;D
Mind you my virgo mother-in-law is obsessively clean   :-\

Anyway to get back on topic well done on that find I'm v.jealous.

So it's not just me, then? I'm on a jam-making mission to stock our preserves table at the church's autumn fair. My wee kitchen has never seen anything like it! Becasue people know that the "Jambusters are coming", they're providing us with stones and stones of fruit at a time for jamming. I'm averaging about three batches a day and I'm finding jam in places that I didn't know I had places.

At least I'm being very careful about removing those little maggots you sometimes find in the plums - I didn't fancy having to add a label saying "probably suitable for vegetarians" to yesterday's batch of plum jam ;o)
