Big gherkins

Is there anything one can do with big gherkins rather than just cutting them up to fit in the pickling jar?

I guess you could use it like a cucumber...unless you've loads of cucs!

I am growing boston pickling, none have been pickled so far we are eating them like cues as ksia suggests! (me regular cues never made it past the slugs! :'()
