I read somewhere that it`s a good idea to rub off the smaller shoots on chitting potatos so that all the energy can go into the bigger shoots, is this true?. :-\ Don`t want to get it wrong & end up with no shoots :(

Hi sunflower - there's a bit of discussion on this in "Edible Plants / Another spud chitting question" http://www.allotments4all.co.uk/yabbse/index.php?board=1;action=display;threadid=19 - and I suspect in one or other of the various potato chitting threads

Phil Cooper's post stuck in my mind as one I wanted to remember ---- not that I've ever done it (I just stick 'em in), but it was one of those "snippets to remember for the future".

All best - Gavin

We're all different! I rub off any that are on the bottom  of the seed. I've never had time to compare results, like some have. =  Tim
