This has been a great year for peas on our Essex allotment.  Have a large bag full in the freezer already, am giving a bag full to my mum at the weekend, daughter number one eats as many as she shucks and there are still masses to come!

(In the trug are peas, red broad beans, and in the pot in front, my first tiny picking of dwarft French beans)

Also on the allotment I am growing Alderman peas, and old fasioned tall variety which I grew with great success last year.  I sow these directly at the start of May and give them penty of support.  As you can see, they are 6 foot tall now.

This snap shows a size comparison between Kelvedon glory (or is it wonder) and a still developing alderman pea.  The pic doesn't show all that clearly, but the alderman pod is considerably larger and fatter.  You get more peas per pod, and the peas are much larger, not petite pois style.  They are however deliciously sweet and I really would recommend them.

Looking very good EJ , must say I am doing very well with peas quite supprised with the lack of rain.

Nice peas E.J. They certainly  put my Little Marvel's to shame.
