since a hurricane hit Hillington yesterday, I am seriously considering (well i didn't need  to persuade myself much) getting another greenhouse.

there's one on ebay quite local to me atm but the current owner isn't sure if it's horticultural glass or toughened.  is there any way of telling (without putting a hammer through a pane ) :o).

if it's horticultural how long is it likely to last on my windy plot ? (and the occasional ball over the hedge).  and could i easily reglaze the roof with say ... polycarb instead ?

it's not cheapest of cheap and i'm trying to get the price down from £150 to £100 for an aluminium 8' x 6'.

bargain ?  or don't bother ?

no idea where i'm going to put it yet unless i could "borrow" the (absent) neighbours lawn til the end of the season when some bed rearranging would have to happen.   ;D

I personally wouldn't pay £100 to £150 for a second hand 8x6 greenhouse ...
Going rate seems to be nearer to £50 ..What's others think?.. Jim

Hmmm, sounds a but toppy to me as well. Some go for even less or free.

Freecycle might be worth a look see.

Got our 8x6 for £25, (had to collect and re-assemble of course) from ad-trader. There have been a few greenhouses on our local free-cycle since >:(

decision made !  far too dangerous to have a load of glass in the garden so going for a matching the existing one plastic option.

thanks for the thoughts.  I had already checked freecycle but there was nothing about.

now to measure up and see how big i can go !!!

;D

teeheee.....are we going seriously off-topic here KayPee ;D

Since the talk here about freecycle, I've been checking mine here in Brum. Give a 'wanted' ad on your local a try for a couple of weeks, why don't you?

Agree with everyone else's comments, btw......(wonder if they'll agree with mine?) ;D
