I have planted out my original sowings but some seem to have died so I am wondering if its too late to sow some more outside to harvest through the winter?

I haven't sown mine yet, last year I sowed in August and got an excellent crop.

Get them in, they may be a bit smaller but you'll get a crop just the same. Maybe grow an early one?

Leek Yates Empire will stand to the end of April :D
Like Robert says, get 'em in! ;)

My leeks which I sowed ages ago (can't remeber when) are now about 10" tall but don't seem to be fattening up much- not yet "pencil thickness" as advised for planting- & are starting to keel over. Would I be better off starting again?

Svea

plant them out in that case, caroline. the transplenting will be a little more fiddly but they will be better off outdoors i think.

i have to start again with my leeks as a squirrel has dug them all up - i cant leave any seeds/seedlings out on my balcony at the moment - so will do them indoors.

Oh, dear b....y books!

Pencil thickness?? By the time they are 10" in plugs, or whatever? -  they're starved.  As Svea says get them out - QUICK!!

Another year, if you get impatient, as soon as they are big enough to handle - like 5" - get them in.

Late sowings?  'Mini-leeks' - like King Richard?
