Hi
i just wondered if there is anything that can still be sown from seed now for harvesting this season??  I feel lost not having any seedlings to look after, or grow.

Hi

I'm sure someone who is past their first season will be along soon, but in the mean time.........

This month you can still sow carrots, beans, lettuce, beetroot and next month the same plus things like spinach and pak choi although if it is still vv hot maybe better to wait

Hope that helps ;D

Dont worry i am in the same boat - my chickens keep eating my seedlings so i have hardly any!

Anyway today i sowed direct 0--  spring onions, leek, and later this week i will be doing carrot, turnip, swede, mooli, lettuce, spinach, beetroot, cabbage, brocolli, PS Brocolli, brussels. maybe peas.

Just look on teh back of the packets and it will say when you can sow indoors or out. There is still plenty if you pick the right seeds up.

I've jsut sprouted some more butternut squash yesterday too.

Hi pakaba - I have sown tomatoes, squash, beans (bush, runner and drying) too, and they have leaped out of the warm soil.

Forecasts say we are in for a late summer, so you could try some courgettes, squashes and outdoor cucumbers.
Make the most of today, because you'll never have it back again.

Everything!  I don't stop sowing until September or even October if I can provide a little protection for the plants.  The only things I wouldn't sow now are toms, but I did sow some about 2 weeks ago!  The seasons are all shifting and our autumns are so mild I don't see why you can't sow things for continual cropping!  ;D  I even sowed runner beans in August time and had an okay harvest from them.

Any of the roots should be OK up to the end of the month, short season crops like french beans, look in something like Veg expert and if it says less than 16 weeks to harvest then it should be ok before we have any real danger of frosts!
:)

Also have a look on feedback on peas...
;D
