hehehe.  Very good Lish.  Funny, my mum always added a drop of water to the eggs when making scambled egg, but I never understood it and have always used milk.  The other one that made me chuckle is sealing the juices in the meat.  I never got that because when you cook the meat, the juices still come out regardless of sealing it!  And surely sometimes you want those lovely juices to come out into your stew or whatever!  Very good - I shall forward it to mother!  ;D

EJ, I always use v. cold water to add to omelettes :o Was taught that it really did make them lighter & crisper :o only use milk for frittatas or spanish omelette type things. :o :o

That was interesting about the alcohol in cooking, I believed that it all evaporated. :)

Be carefull what you read a lot of these myths are really not myths but are true. Not everthing listed on the web is correct. One myth listed is that bicarb will not take away smells from a fridge - well this is not a myth this is true.   My family have been in the food trade for 150 years and I can tell you that bicarb takes away the smell of death inside a fridge and freezer. Also undertakers use bicarb to wash dead bodies for the same reason.
