Hi Pals that is lovely!
;D

lorna

Eric. Beautiful :) :)

Jill

Lovely, just lovely, P.  I have the utmost admiration for anyone who can get a tree peony to flower - I can't!

Deeds

Eric that is glorious. I  was tempted by one of these last year (I really wanted P. rockii but wasn't prepared to take out a HEFTY bank loan to buy one)

Mine is in bud at the moment, and knowing my luck will flower when I am  away at Chelsea. ::)

Palustris

And here it is today, open in all its glory and scented!

Deeds

Eric that really is stunning, and I don't normally 'do pink' - if you can let me know the name of it, I might just have to go and chat up the gentleman on the Kelways stand again next week. ;D

Palustris

Sorry, went out in the rain and the label has totally gonned!

Leaves our poor thing in the shade - but I'll mail it when it's out.

Palustris

One thing you do not get from the picture is the size, the flowers are at least 8 inches across, possibly more!

Mrs Ava

Gorgeous!  I regret leaving on behind in our last cottage.  >:(  If seed grown, how many years before flowering?

Palustris

Sadly none of these big flowered hybrid paeonies are seed grown. They are all grafted plants. In fact in my garden they do not even set seed, pods appear but they are empty. If they did then probably about 5 years from seed before full size and potential would be achieved to go by P. lutea and ludlowii times.

Eric & jmc - SO lovely - but I said that I'd show our poor, common, original one when it surfaced. Look at the wind this morning!

SO??

PS Didn't realise 8", Eric.

Palustris

I like P. ludlowii. Not been to look and see if ours are flowering. Nice pictures though.

Can you grow the ludlowii from seed?

I've grown it from seed. I still have a good  few years to wait until it flowers though!

Palustris

You don't really think we went out and bought either P ludlowii or P lutea did you?

I've got P. rockii too, 4 years old. Can't wait to see the flowers...one day!

tim

Are they that non-U, Eric??

But thanks for identifying it.
