Daughter's the Painter - I'm the seed-sower. Or so I used to think.

As I've intimated before, my efforts this year have been shamefully erratic.
She has to sow everything on one day & get done with all that twaddle. NOT the most patient Lady!!

So? For instance, these were sown on 11/5 - germinated 15/5.

I think I'll take up painting!!

Impressive! Think I might take it up too...hand me that brush!!

Whereas my painting is even worse than my attempts at growing stuff ... but your photo shows it CAN be done ...  :D
The impossible is just a journey away ...

Tim - the picture below shows a motley tray I planted on Saturday (13th). The melons were showing within 48 hrs. I used the method recommended by you of putting a piece of that water retaining fabric stuff on the propagator base - never done it like that before and would normally expect squashes to take 5 days to even show. Basil seeds get everywhere don't they!

Mrs Ava

Well, the kids did mine, and my beans, and my peas, and they have all grown better than I could have hoped!  In the garden in large troughs they sowed an entire packet of 8 year old peas, and i reakon they have 100% germination!  Carrots, lettuce and wildflower mix they also sowed in troughs are all up.  Puts me to shame!

Proud mum really..... ;)

Great! I recall the days when we had 'pantry maids'. We now employ unpaid offspring.

Whatever happened??

Tim you make me laugh!!! :D

tim

Well I'm not laughing - all that effort, & here's another batch. You can tell which are hers.

But I now put the blame not on my age but that of the seed. Next year I'll be using fresh!!

Tim I know the feeling. I have been encouraging grandson Joshua (11) to come round and help me.(You may remember he is very frightened of bees and wasps) I thought the more I get him round here I will be able to help with his fears later on . Anyhow he was helping me  when I was pricking out seedlings. time consuming. He said "Look Nan do it like this!!" Oh well, I live and learn.

This shows it even better - my 2 are the taller ones!!
