I'm growing tomatoes for the first time this year with seeds from swaps and gifts. I was so thrilled to get seedlings that I haven't thought about growing care til now, and realised that indeterminate, semi indeterminate or bush need different care. I have googled but can't find plant type info in the various online seed catalogues, it seems as if you're expected to know :-[ If anyone has grown these varieties, could you advise me which sort they are? Or if there's a way to tell which is which when they grow bigger? The varieties are

Black Cherry
Black Prince
Black Tula
Green Zebra
Japanese Black Trifele
Nyagous Black
Purple Russian
San Marzano 2 (Franchi)

Ooh, I hope someone can help, they are going outside next week :P Thank you :)

Mrs Ava

I grow green zebra as a....well, where you grow just the central stem....never got to grips with the techy names, so I pinch out all the side shoots - a cordon?

tim

Only know that San Marzano & Green Zebra (delicious!) are cordons.

Thank you both, two down, six to go! :)

These are ALL inderterminate, i.e. cordon varieties. Best of luck :)

Don't worry, the plants won't care if you make a mistake, they still grow quite happily whatever you do
