Help! My gartenperle tomatoes (planted in March) are now 12" tall and getting too big for the windowsill.  Is it too early to plant out in pots yet?  The packet says June but by then they will be triffid size!

Could I put them outside and just bring the pots in when frost is threatened?

I wouldn't.

Last year, I started putting mine out during the day only sometime in the beginning of May. I brought then into the shed every night. (Low temperatures, even without a frost, can damage them.) I didn't plant them out fully until the end of May.

It also depends where you are - I'm in greater London and have a very sheltered garden, with only a few ground frosts per year!
gone to pot :D

May be an idea to wait.  I got caught up in the thrill of sewing, egged on by the everlasting winter.  They were getting leggy as h*ll so began putting them out during the day - one cool day saw them all shrivel and pop off.  Back to square one and will sow again in a few weeks and cross fingers!
