just wondering -  :) - but if you dislike tesco's veg due to quality/seasonality, why do you still buy from them? :)

Good question.
Mostly their veg & fruit is A1ish. Not as good as Sainsbury's (which we don't have) but better than our local Coop (who get Brownies for Fair Trade effort) or Somerfield.

We buy UK produce wherever possible, even to the extent of getting bored with Swedes.

Seasonality?  Daughter, & her Sister's young, major on fruit. For several reasons. For variety, one must buy from abroad. We don't produce Bananas or Nectarines or Avocs or Strawberries or Kiwis in the UK at this time. But they are 'seasonal' somewhere? I would never expect goods brought in in cold store from Peru to be like homegrown, but there are times when Banana skins go black within 2 days, & Nectarines - for instance - are rock hard & tasteless until the day they go black inside. Or like these Bramleys? Perfect on the outside - not Tesco's fault - the fault of the system?

Much as I hate the 'chains', at least they can afford to refund anything that is unuseable.

Am I in the clear??

Of course you in the clear - you weren't on trial! :) :) I was just genuinely curious about your viewpoint.

I'm the last person that will stand up and start telling people how to live their lives or where to buy their veg.  My problem with the supermarkets is that they are quite willing to scr*w the producer and provide a range that not everyone wants. Including fruit & veg as you described. Never thought of going to get a refund though...

My £'s go to the farmer's now as at least I know that everything isn't stored for an eternity and at summer time the flavour is FAR superior. Though I have to confess that when it comes to the obvious (capsicums, lettuce, toms, avocados etc) I do have to buy them from somewhere at this time of year...
