BIG plant labels.

Any idea where I can buy big plant labels, for sticking in the ground at the allotment- big enough to be seen and to stick firmly in the ground and not get lost!

I got hold of some stripwood, about an inch wide by about 1/4 inch thick, cut it into pieces about 9 inches long, slapped a coat of varnish on, and wrote on them with thick permanent marker.
The picture below shows them before varnish, after, and two I used last year.

I wrote variety names in using Chinagraph pencil, so it can be wiped off.

After seeing some posts on here I decided to make my own labels from 2 litre plastic milk bottles.  I have cut out some larger ones approximately 3 ins by 1½ ins and will staple these to pieces of wood which I will hammer into the ground.   :D :D

Jenny, this is well worth copying for use on the beds on the basis of looks alone!

Last autumn I bought a â,¬25 bargain cold plasticiser machine for paper.  As an experiment, I used it to seal and protect the packet of broad beans I had just sown outside to use it as a label.  The packet is still there but all the baby beans have frozen to death, despite their cloches.
