They look good.  I made some from plastic milk bottles last year but even  permanent marker came off really quickly, will try a different kind of plastic this year.

eek, I spent the winter chopping up plastic milk bottle labels :-[ if they don't work will do an e-nerd. Great pic! ;D

Supersprout, it may have been my pen!  If you try different pens on them now and put them outside as a test you hopefully will find a better one than I used.  I feel really guilty putting up that post now!!

I've had moderate success with a chinagraph pencil. It comes off with white spirit at the end of the season too so you can reuse the label. You see I'm Ultra Mean.

Cheap venecian blinds cut up work too.
We find them at the junkers for very little.
And they seem to last at least a season or two.
