I have a little nut tree....

and nothing has it beared....

It is a Kentish Cob, from a purchased sapling some 7 years ago, in a pot for a year, then into the ground when we moved from Kent to Essex in 2000.  It is in dappled shade in a border where everything thrives.  It is multi stemmed rather than a single trunk.  Never a nut!  Apart from continue to shower it with love and affection in the form of well rotted compost, what can or should I do to make it go nutty?  Or am I being impatient??  Do cobnuts take years and years before they finally go nutty?

It needs a pollinator (of a different variety).  They need a bit of help, too.  It's recommended that you prune in early March in order to shake the pollen off the catkins.

EJ - Posted this recently which might help:
...was advised to grow two different types to get more nuts - and I do get a lot. The names of the ones I grow are: Kentish Cob 'Lamberts Filbert' which are a longish oval shaped nut, and Kentish Cob 'Cosford' which is more rounded.
