I have them in my garden, and from the looks of it, they have started to grow now, having survived the cold and the foxes and everything else. I'm now worried about frost and stuff :-\ Never grown cauliflower before. I could really use some advice about protection and feeding and general care, really.

Thanks lovely people! :)

Once the florets have started to form you could carefully try to fold some of the outer leaves over to provide some protection against the elements.

Went down and had a peek. Nothing yet. Just new leaves. Still, I'm very proud of them that they've made it this far...

I can never figure the leaf-bending thing. Do they do it commercially? Not on your nelly!

And why not a bit of ventile shading instead of rottable greenery?

Go for those varieties that claim enfolding leaves?

Mine came from the lovely supersprout, so I have absolutely no idea what brand they are, but they look good down the bottom of my garden. What do I need to feed them with? Would tomato food or that be ok? :-*

I don't know what variety they are, but they are supposed to be perpetual caulis, which will be either a blessing or the other thing ... ::)

Tim, I can tell you that leaves were never folded down when we used to grow them in the fields, also at this time of year they were not known as cauliflowers they were called broccoli, Grandad always used to say B before C,  broccoli before cauliflower.

Supersprout - mine are going great in the coldframe - green and healthy with some new leaves.  Haven't put them out on lottie yet cos worried about them surviving the next few weeks (with me hardly up there).  Will transplant them later and send you some pics when they're prize winning caulis  ;D
