For years, we had two blackbirds - maybe a pair - come into our garden.
But, for the last few months, we have had five coming.

Could they be two pairs, and a spare - or maybe the original pair and their young?

They probably are a couple with their young - the males will start fighting for their territory soon.  Saw a blackbird today with one white tail feather.  At first I thought it was a rare bird that I had spotted!

Your blackbirds will likely be your pair with their young.  We had 3 nesting pair of blackbirds and I regularly have up to 8 on the go in my garden.  Would be lovely if the male ones all sang at once.!!!!

Whippet

Eight is a lot, isn't it.
I thought we were lucky to get five.

Some did look younger than others - but I didn't know if it was just me wishful thinking.

I like the bib on this lady.
This morning there were 17 blackbirds in and around the garden. They seem to congregate here in Winter, but there are rarely more than a pair at a time in Spring and Summer.
Gardening is the great leveller.

A lovely photo Eric, look at the glint in her eye :)

What a beautiful picture.  You only want another 7 and you will have enough for a pie!   ;D  ;D  ;D

Eric. Another cracking picture!! I didn't think that by me putting up a couple of feeders I would get so many birds in the garden, Today I had the Mr & Mrs Blackbird again plus numerous sparrows, 2 pigeons, a couple of starlings and an unidentified bird which  appeared to have some yellow and white markings. By the time I got the binoculars focused it had gone. I have got quite frustrated, tried creeping up to bedroom window to try and take pics but as soon as I appear  at the window they all fly off. Tomorrow I am going to keep curtains closed except for a little gap and may get lucky.

Lorna, you might find this site helpful as an aid to identification.

Pauline7 That is a cracking site, thank you. I have saved it in my bookmarks. Will try and get more details if the little bird comes again.
Good job I am not house proud, what with spending time on here and constantly looking out of kitchen window at the birds the hoover is wizzed round at great speed!! ;D Have even got Lorna putting up a feeder her side of the fence!!

Whippet

I agree, great site, Paulines7. I have bookmarked it, too.
