Yup, a house round the corner have their lights up!  I know they have been up in shops for ages, and I have seen lights on houses all set up and ready to go, but not yet alight, but these were on the go...wreath on the door, chrissy tree at the window!  :o  Seen your first yet??

Yep - you know the sort, house covered top to toe in waving santas, flashing stars, blue lights, green lights, rudolf nodding away etc etc .  It happened about 3 weeks ago - and this week they have been popping up all over the place. i just don't understand why ???

Now I'm sounding like Derek the Fox and Clanger but I'm not Bah Humbug honestly ;D

Mine go up in 15th December every year - it is eldest sprogs birthday on 16th and she loves to wake up on her birthday to find the house decorated and twinkling!!!! :)

Saw some quite tasteful ones in a window about a week ago but yesterday spotted the full monty - flashing lights, father christmas, reindeer & all other assorted bells & buttons. I could have sworn we were still in November!

A neighbour commented last night about us having fairy lights up already. I had to explain that I like multicoloured lights, they're on the bookshelf and they never get taken down!

Saw some this morning whilst walking dog. A house covered from roof to garden.  I actually like seeing them, think it's funny. I only put a few twinklies out myself though I've always fancied a reindeer on the lawn, but thats enough about my fantasies! Have a small but very bright reindeer and sleigh that goes on one of the sheds in the back garden. Not done any of that yet but my son desperately wants the deccies up. He got his own tree and some lights for his bedroom so he will have to be content with that for now. Don't know where to put the tree this year yet.

Our local 'scavenger' chap put his lights up last weeknd.  They were probably recycled ones from the local skip.  His house is something to see, a complete junk yard.  Sheds with plastic vases and flowers on top.   Plastic flowers hanging everywhere.   Plastic animals in the garden, not one or two but 00s a sight for sore eyes.  He is a nice chap though just recycles everything tohis house n garden!!!

The official village ones (xmas trees with multi-coloured lights) went on the shops last w/end -aaahhh ;)

Small daughter is desperate to get ours up -and has decorated the tree-house- this is a tree which is a house -rather than the more normal 'shed up a tree', much less work for yt. I'm going to try and hold out for another week.

A house near to us had the outside decorations up last week.
I have now noticed several houses with indoor decorations up.

Snap  Delilah, my eldest's birthday is on the 14th December and we always put the decorations up on 13th (even though she is now married and lives away)  I know that lots of folk love the lights thing but I cant stand it.  I just find it soooo naff.  Lights on the tree and thats it for me (apart from candles everywhere)
Take time to stop and smell the flowers.

Delilah

Snap to you too - love candles everywhere at Christmas, we have white lights on the tree and on the climbling rose which goes around the front door - can't stand the outdoor decorations that many peeps love!  Each to their own I suppose!

When Jess was small we used to wait until after her birthday to put trimmings up in an attempt to keep her birthday separate from Christmas - but as she grew older she asked for them to be put up on the 15th :)

The Town's lights are up now, and will be officially switched on,  on Friday when Whitley Bay has it's annual St. Nicholas's Fair over the weekend.  We will have the French and Northumbrian farmers selling their wares in the main street. The French farmers usually have mammoth strings of onions at very inflated prices, but I will look on them with distain as we still have some  lots of beauties of our own.

The big house at the end of our street always has a fantastic display and I saw them yesterday putting things up, but so far it has been very restrained in Whitley Bay and I have yet to see any others.  We will probably make a start on ours on Sunday.  The local shop has just started displaying all the Christmas Trees so we will probably buy one at the weekend too.  :) busy_lizzie
