We've had a very long dry and sunny autumn here in Germany but this morning we got the first snow and our pond was frozen over - the celery on my raised bed was looking sorry for itself for the first time (nearly everything else had given up the ghost, all I have left is sprouts and leeks and the celery)

The ice thawed enough for the local birds to come down for a splash and flutter this afternoon, much to the interest of our local cat "Sammy", but tonight it's frozen again and we have enough new fresh snow to turn everything white. It fell in the last two hours while we were enjoying a tasty raclette (toasted cheese) and my daughter has now turned totally manic - one bite too much cheese or too much orange juice, I don't know - she's away with the fairies and dancing around the living room like a manic cat!

Good night manic Emma...

LOL!! Sounds gorgeous, Dan! Think if you read paragraph 6, section 7a of kids job description, it's fairly par for the course...Have been winding up mine, saying his sulking really isn't up to par at the min...lower lip needs to be far poutier, all in all 7/10..... ;D

Hi Dan, I would suggest, as an (un)qualified child pshycologist that you tell Emma that Mother Earth covers the world in snow to remind us to make that beautiful, iced Christmas Cake !   *grinz*

Forecasting sleat and snow in Lincolnshire on Friday and Saturday - a long way off I know but you just never know.  However, from a teaching point of view I would like to add that snow at the weekend is absolutely pointless.
