Oh dear, bad start to the day.  I looked out the window watching the birds when quite proudly along came a black cat with a Robin hanging out of his mouth.  Needless to say, I was out the door to try and rescue the poor wee thing but Black Cat had disappeared.   Oh I was upset, hate to see the Robins being taken.  Ten minutes later, a Robin turned up on my bird table.  I did have 3 Robins constantly fighting in my garden so I expect this would be one of them taken by the cat.    :( :( :( :( :( :( :(  Such is life I suppose.  I am saying no more cos I know theres a lot of cat lovers out there  :'( :'( :'(

I know people say it is  the nature of a cat to  carry out such killings (I am not a cat person although I certainly wouldn't harm them) Daughter next door has two cats (she did have three until one got killed by a car recently) but she hates it if one of them catches a bird,. As you say "such is life" .

Bah, catch the thing and tie as many bells to its collar as it can support. Poor robin.

Mumble mumble cats. :(

I had a cat years ago, Tania she would catch anthing so from a early age if she brought home a dead one she got told off. But if it was alive in shock she got a tit bit either ham cheese she soon learnt to bring home alive birds mice and then my job to catch and releace.
She was waiting for me one day and hubby came home well the half grown rabbit must have had a heart atack so hubby shouted at her and took it out she had her revenge the following day he was at home she brough another rabbit in and ripped it up in the kitchen and waited for him.
In her eyes the first one was alive when she brought it home and she objected to being told off.
Cats can be trained just needs time and understanding its not just " Well thats what cats do" owners need to train any animal. Our Tannia prefered her tit bits to raw flesh and I had many funny times catching her prizes.

I love both cats and birds. I have two cats and also feed the birds via a high bird table in the garden. Both Cats have bells on and I can honestly say have never bbought a bird home, numerous mice and voles have been captured though. Mind you Pugsly is so fat he couldnt catch a cold????
