So Tuesday came and went in a whirlwind!  The sun shone in Essex almost all day, so by 9am I was on the plot.  Cleared the last of the runner beans away and pulled up all the canes, dug over and composted that area.  Then worked my way down the plot, edging and weeding and tidying and picking!  Came home with a bag full of leeks, parsnips, carrots, apples, runner beans, french beans, kohl rabi and sprouts!

The plot is looking great and still so very productive!

Then after school club for daughter number one, so back and forward to and from school to get both urchins.

I know what you mean Rosebud, I am a lazy wrapper also, altho I do like to see a big pile of wrapped goodies!  Postman tried to leave a package this am, and I suspect it is internet purchases!

Oh, and another thing.....made the Christmas cake which now needs 4hours cooking.  FOUR HOURS!!!!

Lily

Rain all day today, didn't go to the lottie but had lovely day there yesterday.

There isn't enough hours in a day these days, and even if we had double the amount of hours there still wouldn't be 'enough hours in a day' :D

The average Christmas cake does take around 4 hours.  Don't forget to keep adding the brandy after it's cooked.  Wrap in greaseproof paper and foil.

Yum Yum

Absolutely bucketed down here. Went to see my hens this morning and I think they wish they were ducks.  Lotty is one big puddle. My back garden is one big puddle and my dog did one hell of a big puddle on the garage floor! She's old.

Erm...went shopping in Asda, bought nothing exciting. Got myself a bottle of white wine. English. thought I'd give it a try and that is what I'm off to do right now... ;D

8th November and I'm still heading off to work in just a t shirt and no jacket.  Whilst I finks it's luffly, it's also puzzling!

it is odd isn't it, I cannot get my head round Christmas when. like you say, I don't even need a coat on to go out. Should we not be scraping ice off our cars by now?!

It has been dark all day here in Whitley Bay.  Constant rain and dark forbidding clouds. The worst sort of autumn/winter day where you get cabin fever if you stay in doors.  I had some tree shreddings delivered on Saturday just outside my plot which I am hoping to line my paths with, but have had no opportunity to do it.  Just hoping it is still there when I can manage to get over.

Congrats on getting your cake done EJ,  - now that my daughter's engagement party is over with I can turn my attention to some Christmas preps too.  It is always very satisfying to be able to tick that one off. busy_lizzie

mm, the house smells wonderful!  The cake has come out perfectly, and so very flat!  Perfect for icing.  Now to decide what to do...shall I go traditional with white, lots of piping, very delicate, or shall I go cute and make a christmas tree?

My friends Mum is an ex nurse and she uses a syringe to lace her cake with brandy! :o

I use a syringe too, it's the best way!  I use the kind given out by the chemist for young children to take medicine with, make a small hole with a skewer and squirt in the brandy - always tastes good.

Mrs Ava

Okay, so how often do you 'feed' it.  I dribbled some cognac over this am and have it wrapped up nicely.  When should I do it again??
