I am deTERmined to have my plants identifiable throughout the season. Usually, they get eaten, run over, grown over, walked over..............

So - not this year!!

Wow Tim !  "The Attack of the Mutant Plant Markers"  !  would make a good plot for a film  .... rofl  ....

The thing I hate is you write on the label in pencil or permenant marker and come back 2 months later and find it has washed/faded so you cant read it anymore!

I know what you mean, Jerry, but I spend ages, each year, scrubbing off the old writing with scourers.

That is if the phantom label pincher does not remove them first!

What about those Dymko(?) things that print an embossed label. Then you could just peel it off each year  ?    {:¬)#

my OH bought me one of the dymo label makers last week. it is marvellous, I love it! I was so excited about it and use it loads already

you can get waterproof reels of tape for it so you can use them out doors.

Something for the Christmas list?!  ;D

Been there, done that, the labels still disappear. Once found one  nearly a mile down the road, recognised my writing on it.

Proves my point? The writing was still on it!

I went over to those paddle-shaped labels this year. Only one bit the dust and that's only 'cos I trod on it! Foxes don't seem to want to chew them like they do the smaller ones, and the texture on the surface is enough to stop pencil washing off. I gave up using pen years ago.

Highly recommended.

Last year I bought one of those Brother hand held label writers. Not used it a great deal as yet but the labels that I printed & have been stuck in a pot covered completely have remained completely clear. Peel off easily when finished with also.

So Tim...what pen do you use then??

BAGGY

If you want them really, really permanant you can use a freezer marker that you are supposed to mark left overs with.

love those labels Tim - please, where do you get them from?

young grandchildren are asking about little pressie I want & they're great!!....

H.P.

btw....I use a 'Staedtler' Laundry Marker pen to write on my little white labels (which aren't as nice or big as yours Tim) and the ink never rubs off!!....buy the pens from my local 'Newscentre'

1. Agapanthus - normally, a 'Sharpie' 'permanent marker'. Because we happened to have them in stock. But I'm onto 'Bic' this year - lost the other. Or grandchildren!!

2. HP - trouble is 50 is minimum pack. If not daunted, BHGS - a local trade supplier - no web-site because their range is so huge - 01386 444100.  About 18p each inc postage.
I also get my twist ties there - 2000 in a box - can't find anything in garden centres that have any substance.

Tim....thanks for that. Perhaps I'll pinch
something from my granddaughter's
art box....never seem to be able to get
her pens stains out of the carpet!! ;D

tim

Tell me about it!! We have 3 next door.

Never use labels, I must have a supermemory  8)

Hot_Potato

thanks Tim - you do mean 50 packs is minimum order don't you and not 50 to a pack being the minimum you can order?

in which case, I'll carry on with the ones I use at present - would never use that many!!....just loved the wider tops of those ones tho

Snap! I just came down to do an addendum/clarification!
There are sizes from 20cm-33cm. Minimum  order is 100 labels - mine were 24cm@ £11.50/100 + VAT&P&P. The 20cm would be cheaper.

Twist ties - paper or plastic covered - packets of 1000.

And pot labels - all sizes - but I get 10cm ones in boxes of 1000.
