Hi DJ - I would love a few Trail of Tears beans if you've got any left, also a lettuce would be lovely (don't know the varieties you mentioned, recommend me one?)

I've got quite a few flower seeds, will PM you list & my address,

Thank you,

Chloe

Thanks to Wardy for the lupins and hawhaw for the Danvers.

Sammyd - I'm putting a pack together for you
adam04 - watermelon being sent tomorrow
reedos - your pack being sent tomorrow
doris - your pack being sent tomorrow
kentishcloe ditto if you pm me your address
diana
I'll send your jerusalem artichokes and asparagus in the new year as the artichokes don't keep and are better left underground till you replant them then.

Baggy - I still don't have your address or a list of what your 92 year old would like. I have a shop so anything is possible.

harvestmoon - manteca beans have been surprisigly vigorous and are only now starting to dry off. I'll send them as soon as they're ready if you pm me your address. I'd be pleased to try Spanish peppers along with the other varieties I grow.

Everyone who requested anasazi beans - they haven't arrived yet ( I'm surprised at the poor service ) but your packs will be sent as soon as they do.

It's our lottie shop but it' probably better stocked than most. We have a substanstial range of Fothergills and Johnsons seeds plus various others so sorting out exactly what Baggies 92 yo would like is no problem. When I took the shop over it was dismal but we now try and make sure that no-one needs to look elsewhere. My next addition is minor mainteance materials like sand/cememnt, nails, screws etc. With 125 gardeners and plotholders from other sites visiting we turn over around £8k a year and contribute arund £1000 to the kitty.
The other real benefit is that some items aren't easily found in garden centres, or are extortionate. For example, we do 2.2m wide enviromesh off the roll at £1.90/M and seaweed meal at £1.50/kg which are both cheap and not sold nearby. Probably the biggest rip-off at B&Q etc is Growmore. They charge £6.99 for 10kg and we can sell 25kg for the same price.

One of the sites in Nottingham has a shop run by one of the retired ex-gardeners who is no longer able to garden. He opens it 7 days a week and it keeps him part of the site. Ultimately that's what I'd like to happen here but in the meantime I open Saturday and Sunday mornings for a few hours and also open up on request in the week. It seems to work as our turnover has trebled.

BAGGY

DJ - Charlie mentioned again on Sunday that he wanted more broad bean seed to overwinter (Aquadulce ).  He normally plants 8 or so rows and he could only manage 3 with the ones I donated.  I will pm you later this eve when I have gone through my stuff to check what I can give him too.  Would you believe it - the b'stds came back and nicked the cloche ends that they forgot the last time round.  I hop their hands drop off !!  Grrrrrr.
Get with the beat Baggy

THats the one thing we miss on our lottie - no shop as it is quite small being in the village so rely on Wilkinsons for the sensibly priced stuff.   Sounds like you almost have a need to spend more time in the shop than the lottie dj or is the workload shared?
Neil (The Young Ones) once said "You plant the seed, the seed grows, you harvest the seed....You plant the seed....."   if only it was that simple!!!

djbrenton

I do 99% of the shop but tbh it's an excuse not to do anything on the lottie some of the time  ;D
The other beauty is that if there's anything I want I order it and put the rest into stock, so I always get trade prices.

Icyberjunkie

{GG} definately a good bet given the amount of rain thats being around!
