Ordered new camera 9/10 for daughter's birthday. Urgent. 'In stock'. Cheap at £214.

But - checked today - next month delivery? So I said cancel. I've got it next day delivery from elsewhere. 'Right - we need a copy of your bank statement to prove that we've charged you'. Looked at the account & found that they took the cash on 11/10. £232!! Bloody cheek I call it?

No doubt you will not be dealing with them again ...

Worth using a credit card for net transactions if possible - that way, if they charge your card in error, you simply tell your card organization what's happened and they get the money back. In this sort of situation, the money would never have left your wallet.

Yes - all done on a card - & all  was refunded today.

BUT - & a big BUT - I got this thing largely for daughter's professional use in painting. SLR? Instant through-the-lens focussing? No way! 7 operations to achieve a very unclear result. Maybe if I had paid £600??

But it's an amazingly neat, light unit. And full of capability.

For the technical - it's the Fuji S5600.

Shame it wasn't what you expected, Tim. No camera expert, but if it's any consolation, OH's £600 digital camera takes a second to focus, too :)

Words of comfort!

By instant, of course, I meant 'at the turn of the focussing ring'. With a dead sharp viewing screen. Oh, well, the 10X optical zoom is incredible!

My mate uses the Fuji S5600 and I'm not in the slightest bit jealous  .....     {:¬ (
