How can I tell if sweet corn is ready to eat without peeling the green sheath off the cob to test the individual corn seeds.

The tassels at the end of the cob will be dark brown. The cob will be plump and full. Go on, try one. If you leave it much longer, the mice will have them!

It is also said that if you rub your thumb over the tip of the sheath if it feels pointy it is not ready, if rounded, ready to eat...................... :o  Now that came out all wrong but you know what I mean!
