This little sweetheart landed next to me, outside cafe!! It looks like a *** big mosquito, long sucky thingy at front, huge body, sorry about the pic quality, but it's a cheap and cheerful camera.  99.99999% sure it's not a crane fly, it's legs were too short and the thorax (?) was huge in comparison to the rest of it. In fact, there is one flying in the living room right now - I live in a bungalow and the doors and windows are open all day ! - I even found a slug crawling around on my bedroom carpet last night !
