i have some old trellis on the side of my balcony, you know, the wooden type. aged to a silvery grey over the years, i have noticed 'scratch marks' everywhere which expose the wood colour underneath, i.e. the surface has been scratched off.
the other day while sitting on the balcony, i could hear a rasping sound, checkend and saw a wasp rasping off the surface.
now the question is: what on earth is the wasp going to use that for? why would they do that?

answers on a postcard please to the usual address.

thank you. :D

Nest builiding/maintenance.  They chew up wood to make the paper they make their nests out of.
