No Butterflies!

Except for the Cabbage White, my OH and I have suddenly realised that we have seen no other Butterflies in the garden this year. This is exceptional for us as we have several Buddleia and Hebes and all sorts of plants that encourage butterflies etc.

Anyone else found a lack of Butterflies in their garden this year?

Oh Gardenqueen, I have found the opposite.  I have never seen so many Red Admirals and Peacocks and Cabbage Whites as I have this summer.  I have taken no end of pics. of them on my various plants.  But, we have not had the summer most folk have had down south, whether that is the reason.  It has been warm but not so hot. 
Sorry your garden is lacking the butterflies.

They've been around this year, but not in any great numbers.

   Hi All,    Previous years I've had twenty plus butterflies a day (not counting the cabbage whites) on the Sweet Williams and the Lychnis Coronaria. But this year I've only seen about ten in total.

very few butterflys eventhough I have plenty of "butterfly" plants - most disappointing

Apart from Carol, ( Lucky you!  ;D) it would appear that the presence of butterflies is less than usual. We have had fairly good weather here in South Wales, and everything has been blooming well, all be it earlier than normal. Maybe that's the reason?

Yes something strange is happening,  I have just counted 15 Red Admirals on 2 Sedum plants in my rockery, they are everywhere today.  There was a piece on the local news programme on tv last night talking about Scotland being the butterfly area for the UK.  Maybe they visited my garden!! I would exchange a few for some sparras tho.
